HDMI output no longer working

I have an ATI Radeon HD 4250. I've been using one of my 32" LCDs exclusively as a monitor the past few months. Yesterday I borrowed the cable from the back of this computer and hooked it up via VGA to a smaller monitor... problem is when I plugged it back in through HDMI it won't output anything anymore.

I've gone into my display properties and no matter what it cannot detect any other displays. Is there anyway to check if I've disabled it, or maybe the driver has switched over? Any help is greatly appreciated.

 

Have you still got VGA cable installed?

 

Yes I do, that's all I'm running with right now actually.

 

Try unplugging the vga. sometimes tour secondary output is disabled until you are loaded into windows if you have a device connected to your primary oitput. next look in display properties and ensure tjat it is set to either Extend your desktop to your second mobitor or duplicate. if you need morre help with this please post back

 

I've already tried unplugging it and starting the computer up with the HDMI in... is there another way I should go about doing it?

 

Could a static shock have fried the port? I was getting shocks all over the place right before that.

 

Its possible but unlikely. Have you got your display settings correct? ie extended desktop

 

Yes I have it set to extend my desktop.
