    Hello,
I just bought a new Razer headset and I can't seem to get the microphone working. This is the first microphone i've used on this computer. The headset is http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.169415800.
When I built my computer about 2 years ago the CD that came with the motherboard wouldn't work so I downloaded the audio and lan drivers from the motherboard site and everything worked fine. I think that may be the reason my headset microphone will not work now. I just re-downloaded and installed the audio and chipset drivers from http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Pr...ilID=897&DetailName=Feature&MenuID=16&LanID=0, but the microphone still will not work. I already checked on its not set to mute on the headset itself.
Is this a driver issue, if so where can I get a driver that will work? Or is it just some option in windows that I have to turn on to allow it to work?
The motherboard is the ECS G31T-M7 with windows 7 64 bit. Intel 2 quad core with nvidia gtx 260 if any of that helps.

If you have access to another PC test the Razer on it; it's possible the mic. itself could be defective.

My experience has been that ECS is (at best) marginal on driver support. If the Razer tests OK and you're tired of playing driver detective it might be worth biting the bullet and purchasing a decent basic sound card.

    Hope this helps :)

I just tried it on my laptop and it works just fine. Anything else I can try before buying a sound card?

The only other thing I can think of is checking the headset on the rear (motherboard) jacks instead of the front. If it works on the rear you may have a loose or defective connection running from the board to the front audio jacks.

I had the same problem and gman863's solution worked, my front connections have always been a problem.

I just found out that i just had to us the VIA HD audio program that the drivers installed. The options had the microphone turned to 0 and i just had to turn it up, its all working now, Thanks.

Glad you were able to avoid the cost of a new sound card. ECS boards have always been a bit glitchy on sound drivers.
