    Hi there.

I have got a serious virus/spyware or malware problem. Command Service crashed Hijack This! and I also got an error with:

    ModBackup-MakeBackup(Sltem-020-Applnit_DLLSS:dxclib303562752.dll
    Error#5-Invalid Procedure call or argument.

I have windows Version NT 5.00.2195
    MSIE Version: 6.0.2800.1106
    Hijack This! Version 1.99.1

I have located the dxclib at C:\WINNT\System32\dxclib303562752.dll
But, I cannot open it or access it and I really don't know what to delete if I
    could open it.
I have tried most programs on my computer to open it yet none will.

    HELP!!!

    Thanks SOOOOO much!

Welcome to MajorGeeks.com, please follow our standard cleaning procedures:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gifAfter doing ALL of the above and you still have a problem, make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below thread to properly use HijackThis and attach the log:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis
    • Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around..
http://www.majorgeeks.com/images/grenade.gif In your next post, please make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order:
    • CounterSpy - ONLY IF you were not able to run Windows Defender
    • Bitdefender - from step 6
    • Panda Scan - from step 6
    • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
    • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
    • HijackThis
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!

i will try this very quickly it keeps freezing up.

whenevr i try to do anything a box comes up stating

    buffer overrun detected
    program:C:WINNT\Explorer.exe

a buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the programs internal state. the program cannot safely continue and must now be terminated.

then it freezes and i must restart. it only stays up about 2 minutes.
when i log back on it states

    error loading: w2658680.dll
the specified module could not be found.

this happened yesterday at 3:31 to the dxclib dll file.

    thanks

    hey, thanks so much.
this is all I could get. Hijack this crashes and it won't let me download anything new or switch web pages very much without shutting down.

Edit by bjgarrick: Inline log attached!

    Hope this means somthing.
    Thanks!

Please see this thread, Using SDFix. Let me know the results of this scan. Once you have completed it reboot and attach a fresh HJT log.

    Download Pocket KillBox
    • Save it to your desktop or a place easy to find.
    • Do not run it yet
Please look in Add/Remove Programs for the following and uninstall them if found:

    DeluxeCommunications

Please make sure the Viewing of Hidden Files & Folders is enabled per the READ ME.

Now, look in Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) for the following running processes and, if you see any of them, try to END them:

    Sloopy7.exe

    ms0654344-16053.exe

    sys011605354344-.exe

Now scan with HijackThis and check the boxes for the following entries:
( Make sure ALL browser windows are closed when you click FIX )

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd=ie&ar=iesearch
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd=ie&pver=6&ar=msnhome
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir.dll?prd=ie&ar=iesearch
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =

    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {A8BD6820-6ED7-423E-9558-2D1486B0FEEA} - C:\Program Files\DeluxeCommunications\DxcBho.dll

    F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe, C:\WINNT\System32\gfvov.exe
    F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINNT\system32\userinit.exe,radrgcm.exe

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [3c1807pd] C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\3cmlink.exe RunServices \Device\3cpipe-3c1807pd
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ntdll.dll] C:\WINNT\System32\qufjvw.exe reg_run
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mpzfb6a6] RUNDLL32.EXE w2658680.dll,n 006fb6a0000000032658680
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [{03-3C-C9-98-ZN}] C:\winnt\system32\nndsrego.exe GEN001
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ms0654344-16053] C:\WINNT\ms0654344-16053.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sys011605354344-] C:\WINNT\sys011605354344-.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DeluxeCommunications] C:\Program Files\DeluxeCommunications\Dxc.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TheMonitor] C:\WINNT\Sloopy7.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [DeluxeCommunications] C:\Program Files\DeluxeCommunications\Dxc.exe
    O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe

    O20 - AppInit_DLLs: dxclib303562752.dll

Again, make sure ALL browser windows are closed when you click FIX.

Now, Please boot into Safe Mode, be sure you have the Viewing of Hidden Files & Folders Enabled per the tutorial. Now, navigate to and DELETE the following if they should remain:

C:\Program Files\DeluxeCommunications Delete this whole folder if it exist!

Next, run CCleaner to clean up cookies and temp files.

    Locate PocketKillbox
(Procede with this step even if they do not show in blue)

Next, you will be entering items into Pocket KillBox. Please select the “Delete on Reboot” Option. Copy&Paste each of the file names listed below into the box one by one, making sure Delete on Reboot is Checked for each entry. Click the Red X for each entry, but DO NOT Allow your machine to be rebooted until the last item has been entered:

** Note: For any of the .dll files, check the Unregister .dll Before Deleting box as well. If this option is not enabled, don't worry about it.

    • If you get an error message about Pending Operations, just reboot your computer manually.

After you complete the above, REBOOT and proceed with the rest of this fix...

Next Reset Web Settings & Default Security Settings

    To Reset Web Settings:
Right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK.

If you do not have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, click Start, Control Panel (for some systems it may be Start, Settings, Control Panel), Internet Options, Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK

    To Default Security Settings:
Right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Security Tab and click Default Level for Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted Sites, and Restricted Sites.

    Note for IE 7 users:
Select Internet Options, then the Advanced Tab and then the Reset button under Reset Internet Explorer Settings.

Finally, I would like you to flush your System Restore points. Please follow the instructions in the below:

    • Disable and Re-enable System Restore

    • Turn OFF System Restore to flush any bad Restore Points.

    • Then, follow the instructions at the bottom of the linked page to Re-enable the Restore Utility which will create a fresh restore point.
After you complete the above reboot once more and then scan with HijackThis and attach the new log.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now.

    Wow!
    I cannot thank you enough.
I was so scared it was a goner and I didn't have the $$$ to take it somewhere.
    Thank you! You are awesome!

It seems to be running fine now but here is the hijack this log. It took me about 3 or 4 tries of doing what you said before it finally "stuck" and took to healing.

Again, I am very, very grateful.

You still have some baddies in your HJT log we need to address.

Please see this thread, Running AVG Anti-Spyware. After you compete this scan, attach the results and also attach a fresh HJT log.
