    Welcome to Major Geeks!

In our Malware Forum, you are only allowed to post in a thread that you started. This avoids confusion and thread hijacking.

Since the other user whose thread you referred to never finished our instructions, we were never able to complete that thread. So I will give you the same instructions below. But first I also want to have a few questions answered.

    1. How many PCs on your network? If more than one, do they all have this issue?
    2. Are you using a router? If yes, does it have a firewall?
    3. Are you even using a PC because you said /etc/rc.conf which is not something that would be found on a PC. Sounds more like a UNIX base operating system. If so, you are on the wrong website because the below cannot be run.
    4. I find it to be a rather strange coincedence that you have the same ISP ( cable.rogers.com )as the other user. Maybe it is no coincedence! Maybe you are just having an issue with your ISP and their DNS servers. You may want to read the below:

If you are using a PC, we can check your PC for malware by having you follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions. However, I just think you have an issue with your ISP and also think you don't have a PC.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:
    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
