Been too long since I ran that OS. But look in control panel for power options. ;)

Or, that it is telling you to bury it in the backyard, and upgrade to XP, or 7.

Search on turn off hibernate "windows ME"

    Hope this helps.

PS: I remember when a friend of mine got a new PC with ME installed, and I was so jealous as I only had 98 SE. :-D :major

Baz, you were jealous of ME. As long as you did not update it, it did not BSOD. I remember how bad it was, along with WMP7.x. Both should be forgotten like a ex-girlfriend.

If just using ME for some legacy app, run it in a VM on the XP drive

Try clicking this sequence: start/control panel/ display

If you get to screen properties, click screensaver tab, then energy saver settings button, near the bottom.

This should get you to where you can change hibernate, monitor , and hd sleepytimes.

    Good luck:wave

    Is this a laptop?
Desktops running ME have a Hibernate tab when the Power Options is selected in control panel (provided the computer supports it). If yours is a desktop and you do not see a Hibernate tab, then you are correct, something is missing since your computer must support it if yours is hibernating.

I honestly thought Windows ME was a good operating system. I never had any problems with it and too be honest with you all I still have the original windows ME disc and 98 SE.

Not running it now though. I am on Windows 7 x64 bit.

Windows ME ran fine for me on an HP Pavilion laptop for 3 or 4 years. I eventually upgraded to windows 2K and still have that laptop purchased in 2001.

I still got a desktop computer upstairs running Windows ME but before that operating system installed I had Windows 95b operating system installed
