hi all! I'm not new here I've been lurking for years. i have usually found and fixed problems through this forum many times without posting. BUT... yesterday and then again today i have received e-mails from people in my address book that i have not heard from in years.

the one problem happened in my Yahoo account. the subject line was blank (no subject), but i recognized the e-mail address. so i opened it. it had a link htt:// linkarbor-legno.com/to.php so i clicked on it. all the page had was random characters. IMMEDIATELY my AVG warned me of a virus attack.

now i have another message from my Juno account from a long lost friend who i used to work with, again blank in the subject subject line. needless to say i did not click on this one this time LOL:) the link is <snip>

something else that my or my not mean something i did not recognize the other CC's addresses

does anyone know what is going on??? I'm very confused:(

please don't tell me not to click on links from people i know and trust.

    thank you

Malware detected in email databases has to be cleaned up by you. You have a few choices:

    1. delete the whole file which is not an option you normally want to use
    2. load the email folder that contains the infection and delete ALL unnecessary emails (hoping to remove the problem email) and then use the Mailbox Cleanup option to delete all old emails. Then compact the Outlook database to permanently remove data. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/291645 If you do not cleanup and compact the databases, the deleted emails may still be leaving hidden information in the database that you just cannot see but a scanner may still pickup on it.
    3. create a new folder and move only emails you really need into the new folder and then delete the infected folder.

This is a general guide. You need to apply it to your online account.

In the meantime, if you want us to check your system for malware, please follow these instructions:
