I originally posted a thread in a forum on a site called pcpitstop
    (original: http://forums.pcpitstop.com/index.php?/topic/191505-computer-only-starts-up-in-safe-mode/ )
But I havn't exactly had a big response. I do appreciate the one I have had but dont think it was in the right direction.
I am hoping the great major geeks are going to do better.
Here is a run down of my major problem :

Computer will only start in safe mode and I dont know what to do . I did see a topic on here : http://forums.pcpits...de/page__st__10
and a guy called IntelGuy solved it. I have started to try to follow some of the steps he suggested but some of the links are out of date. I'm not really tech savy and although a little bit of a tomboy, this tech stuff is way above me.
    I have an
    RM D945GTP_
and im running XP home edition on it.
from what ive read there is a strong posibility it may be a dirver problem and in fact thats is how IntelGuy solved the one shown. However i dont know how to find out whats drivers i need for my specific computer.
What are my first steps? Please help me, I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance.

After I posted that on pitstop forum I was asked to do a pit test, (i think that is an overclocking test? am I wrong? or maybe its just a basic test of what your computer is and what it can do?)
So i did the test and followed some of its recomendations which werent really all that good, just made my computer a little quicker.

    My last post was this:

Ok, sorry ive havent got back to you. Ive been working. I have tried all the recomended things and nothing has changed apart from my pc being in the bottom 25% rather than the bottom 15%.
I did try to update my audio driver as I wasnt sure whether it was normal not to have sound while in safe mode and when I did try to update it it came up with this message:
_ExitError: Error= device object not present, restart and run setup again.
tried it 3 times now and its the same every time.

    What now?
One thing I have noticed is that when I click on a google link after searching for something it often takes me to a different site than the one I wanted. I have tried to run avg but it runs funny in safe mode and doesnt give me options to delete things.
Is there programes I can use to scan and delete malware and trojans and other nasties?
PLEASE HELP ME! this is driving me insane!

SO? Major Geeks are you up to the challenge? I am at my wits end and near enough to throwing the damn thing out the f-ing window.
I do really appreciate any help as I know its all free and out of somebody elses time, but I really cant afford to get this fixed at a shop....... the gf is on at me not to spend money I havent got until christmas!

    Thanks

    Greetings, TheGrey.

Not familiar with the PCPitstop protocol, so please do the following, if possible:

Download and install Everest, a free system information tool.

Run Everest and click Report (top menu) > Report Wizard > Next - Choose System Summary Only > Next - Choose Plain Text > Finish and wait for report to generate.
Click Save to File and leave the File Name as Report, then click the Save as Type dropdown and choose Report files (*txt) - click Save (n.b. Save to desktop, use Browse to locate desktop).

Then attach your log to your next post per these instructions: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post.

Also, the facts that you are being redirected and the inability to run AVG scans leads me to believe that you should go through the steps listed in the Malware Forum's Read & Run Me First thread - we need to make sure your machine is not infected.

Here is the attachment for my everest results. Seems the everest is very similar to the pitstop thing but less indepth with drivers and so forth. It wasnt as clear either, probably more geek friendly. If you want to see the pitstop results too heres the link: http://www.pcpitstop.com/betapit/sec.asp?conid=23940458 just click on the tabs to see specs and drivers.

Im just about to do the read & run things.

Also does the bit I said about trying to install audio driver not ring any bells?

    Thank you for your reply.

Do you have the Windows disk or the OEM recovery disks?

I'm afraid I have neither of those. Just about to start running the cleanup programes. Sorry its taken so long but my internet decided it didnt want to work.

Those redirects and failed scans are especially troubling - I'd strongly suggest starting a thread in the Malware Forum and attaching the requested logs, make damn sure you're clean.

As far as the drivers, you may be conflicting with some residuals left over from previous uninstalls. You might try running Driver Sweeper to thoroughly clean any traces, then reinstall any chipset and audio drivers.
