Help! Barely any sound from laptop!

I have an old Alienware XP sp3 Area 51M laptop. If I use headphones I can barely tell if the sound is playing. I have checked the sound Icon and its all the way up. No mutes on any of the standard sound bars. Nothing from speakers but barley, really low, on headphones. Is this fixable?:cry

I do get some sound on my headphones, barely,

Hmm, I have an older speaker I use for an Ipod, and it will go USB with the same plug I use for my camera, but I cant get any sound out of laptop or desktop. Is XP too old to deal with USB speakers (without soundcard?) I can't find any paths to connect to
