Help. Can't Update XP

I have XP and it has six updates that fail every single time.

I can't fix this. I went to the MS site and tried about eight different fixes and none of them work.

Is there some way to fix this stupid problem?

So help me, when this XP installation goes, I'm going to Ubuntu 100 percent, no dual boot, no nothing. No ands ifs or buts. Did I mention no Vista?

If I can't do what I want in Linux then I don't need it. This Windows is garbage.

In the meantime, maybe you can suggest a way to get these updates to install.

Disregarding the useless opinions of the above post, have you checked the event viewer for any possible error messages? Does Windows Update give you any errors other than "The following updates were not installed...."? Try using the "Repair Windows Update" option and check all the boxes in the Registration Center in Dial-A-Fix (link http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4899.html). Here's link to some possible fixes also: http://help.maximumasp.com/SmarterTicket/Customer/KBArticle.aspx?articleid=898 You can also try navigating to to your Windows directory (it's usually C:\Windows\...) and find the "Software Distribution" folder and rename it to "Software Distribution-old" or something similar, then try the updates again.

In case anyone is wondering.... there was a post that I was referring to that has since been removed by a moderator.... I was not referring to anything said by the OP.
