I can log in but most windows programs seem to be shutting down. Some error messages I get are : Host Process for Windows Services was closed.. To help protect your computer Data Execution Prevention has closed Host Process for Windows Services. A problem caused internet explorer to stop working. When I try to open maintanence/security settings I get Windows Explorer has stopped working. Also got a solution found click here to fix ffshow.ax. Tried rebooting in safe mode and same thing.

I am in a similiar situation with a SVCHOST error and running at 100% CPU
I have tried the svchost .bat fix but it still keeps coming back on both my laptop and
    my desktop

does malwarebytes fix this insideous problem?

    Hi Ravenstarr

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using?

I would have suspected malware, but I see you have been given the all clear from Chaslang so malware is not likely the cause here.

    So onto some other thoughts,

Can you boot into Safe Mode with Networking and connect to the internet ok?
Have you been using any system tweaking app or registry cleaners, and if so what ones?

I would be tempted to run SFC /SCANNOW from a command prompt and pop your Windows Cd/DVD in the drive and see if that fixes any corrupt or broken system files.

Hate suggesting this but if you have been battleing with this for a week or so, then backup your important data and files etc, double check all data so your dont miss anything out, then re-install Windows again as a clean install of Windows maybe the best option.

I have SP3 and have tried several registry cleaners such as CCLEANER
    to no avail.

I retired and was able to take my laptop with me but do not have a XP CD
I also have updated trend micro on it but that didn't seem to work

I am trying to NOT redo my whole computer it will take a huge effort to reload all my navigation software maps and family picture files

Will an XP cd that not my original one work ?

    Thanks Errol

    Hi Errol

Sorry I had aimed my reply to Ravenstarr, so the option I suggested for them is likely different to yours, as I know they dont have malware as they went through our malware cleaning guide and attached the logs for one of our experts to review, their issue is something different,

So for you I would suggest as we dont know if your svchost at 100% is malware or not for you to run the following and once finished start a new thread in out malware forum area and attach the logs from the guide

Dont re-install your Windows as the suggestion again was not aimed at you and your problems, but I would if you can boot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot) and make sure you backup all your important data before starting the malware removal process.
