HELP! catsvut.dll

I have windows xp home on my system. I have a new full install for my desktop that was bought with the windows licensing through church who also owns the computer. I get to the screen where it is loading network information from the cd and it hangs up and says that catsvut.dll is not found. I've tried cleaning the disc to no avail. Can anyone help me either continue to upgrade to pro or just get me back to home?

 

I think the file is actually catsrvut.dll but that doesn't really matter. File copy errors during setup are usually caused by faulty memory, faulty hard drives, or the device (in your case the network adapter) is faulty. Try disabling the ethernet adapter in the system BIOS and see if that helps (it probably won't but it's worth a shot). Also, running a full in-depth diagnostic on the system memory is a good idea. I use a bootable diagnostic when testing RAM. This program is my personal favorite. When you run the downloaded file, it will ask if you want to create a bootable floppy, or a CD image ISO file. If you choose the ISO file, be sure to burn it as an image to a CD. Do not burn it like a normal data CD or it won't work. The ISO file will be created in your My Documents folder. Boot to the CD/floppy, and press T for the extended tests and let it run at least 3 or 4 passes. It will take time so be patient, go have a pizza or something. Some of the tests may appear to lock (test 7 for example), they haven't so don't worry.... You might want to run a diagnostic on your hard drive too. Again, they are bootable utilities and are available for free from the hard drive maker's web site. Let us know what happens....
