    Okay, here goes:
My games kept freezing, and artifacts would pop up, so i ordered a replacement video card (x600 xt 256 mb), and will get that on tuesday. However, i was having problems with other stuff. I ran a scan with ewido security suite and norton antivirus 2005, and they both found a virus in a warcraft 3 patch i downloaded...the patch was immediately deleted, and all worked fine....until i went to my computer--my entire D partition was wiped clean---15 gb of music programs and games erased completely! I was beyond mad. Dunno wtf happened there. Also, when playing warcraft 3, and when i try to open the game, it would keep saying please insert cd until i opened and closed the disk tray. After the virus scans, it completely stopped functioning, and now, even if i put it into the cd tray (i had to uninstall it and try a reinstall), it will not autorun, and it will not open at all when i go into windows explorer (on the other hand, it hangs there forever, without anything coming up). You'd think its a problem with the cd drive...but i put in other cds like starcraft and movies, and it works just fine. Also, now the computer freezes at random points...like when surfing the web, or when opening/using a program. I can live with the clean hd--ill just add everything back using my handy 40gb ipod, but the freezing and the warcraft not working have got to stop. Please offer some much needed assistance.

Hi m8!I think your best bet is to get a hijack this log completed first to be sure you have removed the infection,90 percent chance you havnt, read the stickies in the spyware forum, especially the ones by chaselang, save your log as an attatchement and upload it dont cut and paste to your post, once your comp is deemed free of malicious code, install the recommended programs in the spyware section to get instantly protected, then the first thing to do is to update windows, for more protection the service packs can be downloaded here at MG and kept on a disk so you will be protected before you go online.

Then we will work through the various processes of elimination to find the part or driver that isnt working. :)

Start a new thread in the spyware forum, most of the stuff in there I dont recognize, the guys in there really know thier stuff, looks as though you have done it right, but I hate to admit it,its over my head,I dont know which programs I'm looking for,I suppose you learn them with experience.

You say you dont mind a clean hardrive, but backing up your data and pasting it into your clean drive will just start the problem again, consider a complete fresh install, this is sometimes frowned upon because you arnt dealing with the problem, but I love a clean install, you will have one set of drivers for each peice of hardware,no spyware, trojans ect, your harddrive will be faster and if done right will completely protect your computer from being infected again, giving you peice of mind.

Its all about preperation having all the drivers firewall, service packs all together on a disk, for this it is best to download all the latest drivers and progs you need before starting the wipe :)

when loading warcraft, its giving me this message
Setup cannot read a required data file. Your warcraft cd may not be in the cd rom.please insert blah blah....I:\setup.mpq Error 0x0000045D: This reqeuest cannot be performed due to an I/O device error.

and i posted this on the spyware forum as well, but noone has even looked at it yet in the past 2 hours or so...well see....if they can't come up with something to fix it, ill dl the things they recommend and do a fresh install.
