I posted this under "Software" and was told to move it here.

The other day despite my better judgment I downloaded a keygen I know should not have and it went ahead and infected my computer with a virus (or 2, or 50).
I've run pretty much everything I can, followed a malware disinfection guide from this forum and am now turning to you guys for help.

I believe I've removed most of the problem virus'/malware/spyware. However it's left my system a little sluggish. Meaning, instead of a 1 minute windows boot its about 3. Programs take closer to 20-30 seconds instead of 2-5 seconds and web page loading is ridiculously slow, meaning more than a minute.

    I am running:
    XP pro sp2
    P4 prescott 2.6Ghz
    2 gb Ultra PC6400 DDR
    Asus P4P800 se mobo
    Western Digital 80 gb 7200rpm
    G-Force FX6600

I have ran and attached hijackthis, combofix, and McAfee Rootkit logs

maybe im just a noob but i cant seem to repost the logs so here is the link to my original thread:(:(

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

I know you said you ran them, but if you had, you would have attached the logs that they tell you to attach if still having problems. We do not consider the instructions to be completed unless they are followed 100%.

NOTE: No where in those instructions does it ask for a HijackThis log to be posted.

Okay now we need to use a new tool.
    • Download and save to RenV.exe from following link to Desktop (must be on the Desktop)
    • Now Copy the bold text in the below code box to notepad. Save it as Log.txt to your desktop. (It must be on your Desktop).
    Code:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\ntuser .exe
    C:\Program Files\Elaborate Bytes\VirtualCloneDrive\VCDDaemon .exe
    C:\Program Files\RivaTuner v2.03\RivaTuner .exe
    C:\Program Files\SlySoft\CloneCD\CloneCDTray .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\UpdReg .EXE
    C:\WINDOWS\Acecad\Wtxpload .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\lanmanwrk .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZPOINT32 .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\win32 .exe
    • Now using your mouse, drag Log.txt onto RenV.exe
    • When finished, RenV.exe will produce a new log names Log.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this log.

Are the below lines seen in your HJT log something you recognize?
    O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\RunOnce: [nltide1] cmd.exe /C move /Y "%SystemRoot%\System32\syssetub.dll" "%SystemRoot%\System32\syssetup.dll" (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')
    O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-19\..\RunOnce: [nltide2] cmd.exe /C rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSectionEx nLite.inf,L,,4,N (User 'LOCAL SERVICE')
    O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\RunOnce: [nltide1] cmd.exe /C move /Y "%SystemRoot%\System32\syssetub.dll" "%SystemRoot%\System32\syssetup.dll" (User 'NETWORK SERVICE')

Uninstall the below old versions of software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 4

Make sure you reboot after uninstalling the above!

After reboot, now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: cbxwuvs - cbxwuvs.dll (file missing)
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: winpsa32 - winpsa32.dll (file missing)

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
    Now run Ccleaner!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this and also attach the log from Avenger.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Well my programs seem to back to normal load times and web browsing is back up to par. Though there is a delay from the time I see explorer load and when I hear the windows boot music that was not there b4 I got this virus.

I did have a problem with an error
    C:\Windows\system32\services.exe - 1073741819

It shut down my system twice in a row, but us gone on the 3rd reboot. IDK if this will continue but any suggestions are welcome.

    MGlogs and Avenger are attached

Did you have Spyware Doctor installed before? I don't think so since it looks new. Is it a free trial program or paid program? If free, uninstall it now.

Most likely not a malware problem.

Your logs are clean and now you need to get properly protected which is included in the below. You don't even have an antivirus program installed.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we used ComboFix then UNINSTALL COMBOFIX (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN
      • Now type combofix /u in the runbox and click OK.
      • Note: The space between the X and the /U, it must be there.
    3. If we user SDFix you can delete all the SDFix related files and folders from your Desktop or whereever you installed it.
    4. If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
    5. If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    6. If we had your run FixWareOut, you can delete the Fixwareout.exe file and the C:\fixwareout folder.
    7. If we had you run Avenger, you can delete all files related to Avenger now.
    8. If we had you run RenV.exe, you can delete it and the Log.txt file on your Desktop.
    9. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    10. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    11. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    12. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    13. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
