My wife always has friends at the house and they usually mess her comp up pretty good, but I think she let some of them get on mine while I wasn't there. I have done all the tests with the ccleaner and spybot and all the others as I was instructed to do. I have the 3 logs, I know the Hijackthis log isn't really needed but I put it in for good measure. Thanks for anything you can do. *Winantivirus pro 2006, Registry Cleaner, and others*

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

You have a bunch of problems!

Do you have your PC password protected on ALL user accounts? If not, why not?
Do you have it setup to require all users to login?
Is the Guest Account disabled? If not, why not?

I need a little more info from three quick scans:

Run the below procedure and attach the runkeys.txt log.
Now run the below procedure and attach the newfiles.txt log.

Let's get an installed programs list from HijackThis too!
    • Run HijackThis, click Open the Misc Tools section
    • Click Open Uninstall Manager
    • Click Save List (generates uninstall_list.txt)
    • Click Save, to save it to a file where you can find it.
    • Attach the uninstall_list.txt file to your next message.

Goto Add/Remove programs and uninstall the below old version of Sun Java!
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03

Now click Start, Run, and enter msconfig and click OK. Select Normal Startup and then click OK. Now reboot your PC and continue with the below steps.

Start by downloading two tools we will need

    - Process Explorer

    - Pocket KillBox

Extract them to their own folder somewhere that you will be able to locate them later.

IMPORTANT: You should print or save the below locally, so you can refer to them while offline. You must exit all browsers before running the below steps and it would be best if you actually physically unplug your cable to the internet, reboot, and do not run anything but what I give you to do. Also it would be good to exit all processes and items in your System tray.

Do the above before continuing! Okay unplug your cable now.

Make sure you have rebooted in Normal Mode (do not open any other processes)

    - Run Process Explorer

In the top section of the Process Explorer screen double click on winlogon.exe to bring up the winlogon.exe properties screen. Click on the Threads tab at the top.

Once you see this screen click on each instance of infr61.dll once and then click the kill button. After you have killed all of the infr61.dll under winlogon click ok. (If you do not find the dll, just continue on.)

Now repeat the above step for the below two DLLs:
    ssttqnk.dll

Next double click on explorer.exe and again click once on each instance of infr61.dll and kill it. (If you do not find the dll, just continue on.)

Now repeat the above step for the below two DLLs:
    ssttqnk.dll

    Now just exit Process Explorer.

Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {46005e47-3e46-4e2e-8afa-7c5240246268} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\infr61.dll
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdates] C:\Program Files\winupdates\winupdates.exe /auto
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [links] links.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [funk] funk.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windows installer] C:\winstall.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WhenUSave] "C:\Program Files\Save\Save.exe"
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: infr61 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\infr61.dll

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop.
Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files"
Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
    Now run Pocket Killbox:
Choose Tools > Delete Temp Files and click OK.

Run Killbox.exe. Paste the below filenames into KILL BOX one at a time. Check mark the box that says "Delete on Reboot" and checkmark the box "Unregister DLL" (If available) Click the RED X and it will ask you to confirm the file for deletion…say YES and when the next box opens prompting you to reboot now...click NO...and proceed with the next file. Once you get to the last one click YES and it will reboot. Note some of the files listed below may not exist but we need to check for them anyway.

    C:\winstall.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\links.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\funk.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\infr61.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ssttqnk.dll

If Killbox does not reboot or you get a Pending Operations type error message just reboot your PC yourself.

After reboot, run Windows Explorer and delete the below folder if they exist:
    C:\Program Files\winupdates
    C:\Program Files\Save

Now attach a new HJT log and tell me how the steps went.

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Seems to have kicked the bad boys out... THANKS MAN

Now, i have a couple of quick questions.

    1) I need to fix my wife's comp also, she has the same problems as mine, would these instructions "cure" it also?

    2) Would having Firefox on our comps "fix" her getting us these problems?
(She won't stop DLing bad stuff, count on that)

    3) Would having her comp set on guest accounts keep the bad .dlls and stuff from getting on to her account or do they bleed over?

Thanks for any info you can give, and my new HJT log is attached.

It is very rare that problems are exactly the same. Similar problems do not always mean it is the same underlying cause or filenames. It would be best to start a new thread for this PC after running the READ & RUN ME procedure on it.

FireFox can help but it will not prevent all malware. And nothing prevents you from you! You will read more about this in the below procedure I will be giving to you.

Do not use the Guest account. Just create a new user account with Restricted User capabilities. Also read about this in the below.

Your log is clean. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to go back to step 1 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points. Then reboot and enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

After that, you should work thru the below link:

Thanks For Everything! The comp is running very smooth. I will make a new thread for my wife's comp when it is available for me to run the scan on it. I appreciate everything!
