I had purchased AVG8.5 and the past 4 days it hasn't updating. I have been getting script running errors on pages and pop ups galore. So I removed Avg to download Kaspersky and could not run a free scan because it said I'm not connected to the internet. So tried to download the 30 day free trial and it claims I still have AVG on my computer, which I don't see it and I did remove it. I don't know what is going on. I'm not too computer literate. Malware was too big to upload. file size 1.21 ?
    Thanks ,

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Problems with AVG not updating would normally be something you need to post in the Software Forum. And if you actually purchased AVG then you really should have posted on their website.

However you do (and still do) have malware problems per your MBAM log. You had a DNS changer infection which could be the reason you had problems updating. However you did not update MBAM before running it. You need to run it again and click the update tab and then update it. Then run a new scan and attach the new log.

Also you forgot to attach the SUPERAntiSpyware log which we need to see so please attach it.

And in addition it appears that you did not accept the TrendMicro HijackThis license agreement ( you have to click Accept twice as noted) while running MGtools. Thus you will need to run C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat to run all the scans again. And this time when the license agreement comes up, make sure you click the Accept button twice. If you do not see the license agreement, it could now be approved. Just make sure you allow GetLogs.bat to finish running. Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file.

I can't get mabam or superanti to update. Can't get mgtools getlogs.bat to run but I do have the hijack this log.
    Thanks

Please be more specific. You have to tell me exactly what happens. Also did you try the manual update links that were provided in the instructions for running scans with each program?

Uninstall the below old version of software:
    Java(TM) 6 Update 7

Now delete all files and subfolders in the below folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).
    C:\Windows\temp
    C:\Users\The Boss\AppData\Local\Temp

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it, close all browsers (including this one you are reading) and then double click on the fixme.reg and allow it to merge with the registry.
Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

Now run Ccleaner to clean out only temp files and nothing else!

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator).

    Then attach the below log:
    • C:\MGlogs.zip
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

First off my problem with the AV & AS not being able to update. When trying to update any of them I get a msg "There was an error trying to retrieve defentions. Make sure your firewall is not blocking AV." Then I go onto your page to do the update, I get that microsoft cannot display page. This is with Malwarebytes, superanti, & AVG.
Couldn't delete c:\users\theboss\appdata\local\temp because it had current date.
I got a success msg on the fixme.reg
On MGTools I had to hit the authorization button 30 or so times.
Having trouble attaching MG log. It say error on page. Will post this and try in a different post to attach log.
    Thanks

Couldn't find mg log and found out it's because there is a zip error: could not create output file
    zip I/O error: permission denied

Well today I reset my router and I was able to update my AV & AS. All is running good now and don't seem to be having any problems.
    Thanks

You're welcome. You did not uninstall the old Sun Java version. Nor did you cleanup the Temp folders as requested. Your logs are otherwise clean but you need to do this.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix (if it exists)
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    7. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
