    Hi Guys,

I need to make a letter up for someone to be able to use, that is explaining myself forfeiting certain rights, so that person can rely on that in future for refrence.

I don't really want to elaborate on the details, but I do need help with it, I can fill in the blanks of the exact rights I`m forfeiting, but I need a template letter so to speak to work from, any idea guys?

Like below, here's how I would expect to put it, but I am not sure how to make it real, so to speak....

    -------------------------

    DATE (Aligned to the right)

ADDRESS DETAILS (Aligned to the right)

    To Whomever it may concern,

I, (Persons Full Name) wish to give you notice that I forfeit my rights (State Right*s* Forfeiting in detail) as of (Date).....

Also state that I am making these choices under my own free will, maybe reason why? but hopefully not essential...

    Yours Sincerely,

    (Persons Name)
    (Date & Time)

Instead of forfeiting rights, how about giving full and complete permission. Same end result, but probably a better approach. If it is in the case of copywrite, place it in the public domain (I've done this with pictures).

    Something like:

John H. Doe has my permission to use my name in a derogritary manner. I do not acknowledge what he says is true, I am not a ^#@*#, nor a #^$#*, but he has my permission to say it.

never thought of it in that way Bill, that is actually the better thing to do in the long run, and more suiting to the circumstances!

    Thankyou very very much!

Yea Luthius granting Permission is the safer way to go for many reasons, and make certain that you give a termination date for the permission ie(This permission shall terminate on 07/08/09 and has the option of renewal with both parties consent) Permissions are usually only valid for the calendar year unless a termination time is included. I would also strongly suggest you have it notarized as well, most written documents are not worth the paper they are written on unless notarized. you can get a third party to notarize it but would suggest a notary or lawyer. Notaries are usually cheaper. Hope that helps a little.

Find a lawyer, thats your best bet for anything, not worth the possiblitie of screwing something up and makeing it invalid.
