help! i cant get any of my cd roms to work

    the pc is not detecting the 2 cd roms i have on my pc. can someone help me get them working again? i get this message with both when i try to detect them....

    Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)


    what shal i do now?


    any help would be greatly appreciated

    I'm assuming they are physically installed correctly, and that you are using XP?

    Go to Start, Run and type in regedit then OK.

    Browse to the following keys,

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    Locate the Upper Filters and Lower filters value and delete them both.

    Reboot.


    Only work in the Registry after taking the usual precautions. (You may have to reinstall some burning software after this)
