Ran all the steps in "Read & Run Me First malware removal guide", still have problems

    Hi Mayor Geeks,
So I finally did all the steps of the Malware removal guide, but I still have some problems, especialy with Windows :confused. Windows Update for instance doesn't work at all, and the computer still search for actualizations each time I close it, and still try to make the installation of Service Pack each time I open it. In my journal of events, I have a lot of windows messages..
Well, here are my diferentes logs. SASlog.txt and MbAM-log.text seem clear..
I send also ComboFix.text and the RootRepeal report I had done before (on 21th of Juy 09) at the time when it was working.. Maybe it's too old, but maybe it can help
    I Follow with next message..

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

The good news is that your logs are clean. Thus you are not having malware problems.

You will have to continue to search for a solution to your problems in the thread you started in the Software Forum.

It is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    3. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    7. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

    Hi chaslang,
Thank you so much for your answer, and to have taken the time to check my logs.. Happy for the good news also!!
I think I will follow on the software forum as I think my problems come from windows update.. Anyway, thanks a lot again..
Good continuation and all the best !
    Muriel
