    Hi bigballer!
    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You have core-cache-dsk and you also have a new variant of Vundo which gets worse each time you reboot your computer. Please avoid using your computer and any unnecessary reboots until we can post a set of removal instructions to you. This takes time, so thanks for being patient.

    Hi bigballer,

There are a lot of instructions here. Please read through them and if you have questions ask. In particular, look at step 10 carefully as those may be files you want to keep and if so, you will need to remove them from the fix. After you complete the instructions and post back to me, there will be a shorter set of instructions, because the removal process for the new vundo variant involves two steps.

First of all, are the following two folders familiar to you?

    C:\Documents and Settings\Marc\My Documents\GRANNY
    C:\Documents and Settings\Marc\My Documents\CARS

    1) You seem to have two antivirus programs on your computer, AVG and Kaspersky. Please uninstall one of them.

    2) Disable your guest account if this has not already been done.

    3) Go to add/remove programs and uninstall the below:

    - Java(TM) 6 Update 3

    4) Reboot after uninstalling the above.

    5) Install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

    6) Okay now we need to use a new tool.
    • Download and save to RenV.exe to your Desktop (must be on the Desktop)
    • Now Copy the bold text in the below code box to notepad. Save it as Log.txt to your desktop. (It must be on your Desktop).
    Code:
    C:\Program Files\Ahead\ODD Toolkit\DVDTray .exe
    C:\Program Files\Dell Support\DSAgnt .exe
    C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG7\avgcc .exe
    C:\Program Files\Lexmark 8300 Series\ezprint .exe
    C:\Program Files\Lexmark 8300 Series\lxcjmon .exe
    C:\Program Files\Netopia\C3kWepN .exe
    C:\Program Files\VTech\Whiz Kid\System\WhizKidTray .exe
    C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\WMPNSCFG .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxpers .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfxtray .exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck .exe
    • Now using your mouse, drag Log.txt onto RenV.exe
    • When finished, RenV.exe will produce a new log names Log.txt on your Desktop I may or may not ask for this log later.

    7) Go to start> control panel> administrative tools> services> scroll down to " Microsoft cache control" may be named "(MSControlService) " and double click it. Click the blue drop down arrow to the far right of "startup type"> click disable> apply> ok. Exit administrative tools.

    8) Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

After you click fix, just close hijackthis.

    9) If you do not use Windows Messenger (not to be confused with MSN Messenger!!) I would like you to run Disable/Remove Windows Messenger

10)And now, please read the following carefully:
I have included the following files in the Avenger fix in step 11, but they may not be bad. They seem to have come in with your email. If these are things you want to keep, please delete them from the Avenger fix before you run it. They are things which were installed on your computer the same day an Intel wireless device was installed (it's called dot1xcfg.exe and is part of Intel PRO/Wireless Network Connection Software) as well as the same day that some bad things were installed on your computer, on January 17th.

    C:\Documents and Settings\Marc\My Documents\e320-2.mht
    C:\Documents and Settings\Marc\My Documents\e320-3.mht
    C:\Documents and Settings\Marc\My Documents\e320.mht

    11) Now download The Avenger by Swandog46, and save it to your Desktop.
    • Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your desktop
    • Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
    • Check the 'Input script manually' box.
    • Click on the magnifying glass icon.
    • Copy everything in the Quote box below, and paste it in the box that opens:
    • Now click the 'Done' button.
    • Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
    • You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it yourself.
    • A log file from Avenger will be produced at C:\avenger.txt
    12) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune. This program does not require an installation. The executable actually runs the program.

NOTE: This program is for Windows XP and Windows 2000 only. ATF Cleaner will remove all files from the items that are checked so if you have some cookies you'd like to save. Please move them to a different directory first.
    • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    • Under Main choose: Select All
    • Click the Empty Selected button.
    If you use Firefox browser
    • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    • Click the Empty Selected button.
      • NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
    If you use Opera browser
    • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    • Click the Empty Selected button.
      • NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main ATF Cleaner menu to close the program.

    13) Please run C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat and attach the fresh MGlogs.zip it generates along with the Avenger log.

Let me know how things are running now?
