    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Please read ALL of this message including the notes before doing anything.

Pleases follow the instructions in the below link:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

    • **** If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going. ****
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not. MGtools will frequently run even when all other tools will not.

    • After completing the READ & RUN ME and attaching your logs, make sure that you tell us what problems still remain ( if any still do )!
    Helpful Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode, you can run the steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:

    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools and the manual updates for SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes ( links are given in the READ & RUN ME) onto another PC and then burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.
    3. If you cannot seem to login to an infected user account, try using a different user account (if you have one) in either normal or safe boot mode and running only SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes while logged into this aother user account. Then reboot and see if you can log into the problem user account. If you can then run SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, ComboFix and MGtools on the infected account as requested in the instructions.
    4. To avoid additional delay in getting a response, it is strongly advised that after completing the READ & RUN ME you also read this sticky:

Any additional post is a bump which will add more delay. Once you attach the logs, your thread will be in the work queue and as stated our system works the oldest threads FIRST.

Thanks for the reply TimW. Yes I read the forum rules and guides.

First my problem with my pc is that everytime I try to boot in safe mode, BSOD appears saying that I may have a virus infection or a sudden change in hardware installed. Next is I cant paste the logs in here because we did some "do it yourself" virus/malware removal steps that we found all over the net. We even accidentally made a recovery console via combofix. That is the complication that we are dealing with right now.

Anyways the malware that my pc is infected with is autorun.inf and some random alphanumeric .exe. Tried deleting them the first couple of tries and after restarting, another one pops up. Then we even tried installing an antivirus. But whenever we try to install it, it immediately closes.

These are some infos regarding our so called infestation. So any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Oh yeah, My OS is windows xp pro 32bit.

Tell me what happens when you try to run any of these:
    SAS
    MBAM
    ComboFix
    C:\MGTools.exe

I used malwarebytes a while ago. It runs alright but after I remove the infected files and remove them from the quarantine list and do a restart, another random letter .exe and autorun.inf pops back up.

I tried Mgtools also but nothing happened. Just generated some logs in zip. Combofix created a system restore point but I dont think it worked.

SAS, well actually im downloading it right now. Sadly my pc now just performs random reboots. Another complication it seems.

Registry editing and also Task Manager will be constantly getting disabled which is due to the Sality infection you have. This can be seen by the below seen your system.ini file.

    [MCIDRV_VER]
    DEVICEMB=28421253860

For additional info, see W32/Sality.ai also see the below. There are many forms of Sality:

    Virus:Win32/Sality.R

    Virus:Win32/Sality.AT

These types of infections frequently require a reinstall to properly removal all traces and to fix the damage it causes.

You can try the below tools but I have never seen them work properly:

That's one predicament that is really hard to get out of. Regarding the avg and kaspersky, when ever I try to install an antivirus or anti malware software in my pc, the software installs for a while and then immediately closes. So literally the pc doesnt want any antivirus or antimalware to be installed to it. Now I really want to refromat my pc to save time and effort but all my VERY IMPORTANT FIiles are in there. My Life's work are in the drive so I cant Risk of losing them. So are there any other ways to save my pc?

Again, Thanks for the time and effort in helping! :)

You can backup your important files and data to a cd. Then after a reformat and clean install, making sure you have installed all your protection software, scan the cd for malware and reinstall.
