Got my new GPU in today. Had to upgrade my F@H client, but got the console one by mistake.... I have removed all I can find of it, but it will not let me install the client I like (one with the icon in the systray). During installation, I get this error message: 'The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.'

'Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Foldin@home-Win32-GPU-systray-623.msi' in the box below.'

Don't see any thing in the box below that will work. After that, it says 'The older version of Folding@home-gpu cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group.' Any ideas? :confused

    Thanks.

Go to the advanced section and dowload 6.41 as you need a Fermi client to run anything in 4xx+ families of GPU's. Have fun with that space heater!;)

That would be the one that will not install Augie. The 6.41 console version is the one giving the error message listed above.

OK, installed 6.23, uninstalled it, same error when I try to install 6.41. I have a 6.41 in add remove under Control panel, but cannot remove it. I get the

'The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.'

'Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Foldin@home-Win32-GPU-systray-641.msi' in the box below.' :confused

Thanks for the hep Augie, I have never had this much trouble installing F@H!

Jeeze, used to do it on 'Nix boxes...

All I can think of is either a restore or installing the console client and not in program files either, an FAH folder in C root is fine. Weird, I've had more trouble in *nix even though I'm running my 2600 in native Ubuntu and a Ubuntu in VM on W7 930!:-D

Oh,I forgot RevoUninstaller should be able to get rid of the whole mess down to the registry, it's on the front page. Try that. Too bad there's no wrapper for GPU folding in *nix.

This is on an XP box. Never had this much trouble with it. Will try the removal program.

Revo Uninstaller is a no go. Looks like I will head off to the F@H site and ask them later on today.

Revo uninstaller tells me this: "The path 'C:\Documents and Settings\Fred\Desktop\GPU-systray-623
.msi' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this
location and try again, or try to find the installation package
'Folding@home-Win32-gpu-systray-623.msi' in a folder from which
you can instll the product Folding@home-gpu."

After giving me the same error I get when trying to install the Folding program.

"'The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.'

'Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Foldin@home-Win32-GPU-systray-623.msi' in the box below.'"

    Frustrating.

Jeeze, I give up for now. Cant even log into the F@H forums... LoL, not my day for working on computers.

I'll be looking for your post as I'm very curious. BTW, did you check 'services' to see if something's running there?

In services.msc, it shows 11 F@H items. Set all to disabled. Not sure how to remove them. I will track them down this weekend see if I can find them and manually delete. :confused

Thanks for the help Augie. Sent an email to the admin at the F@H site, says my account was deactivated, and an admin has to reactivate it. Don't remember getting into any trouble there.... :-D Hopefully they just deactivate inactive accounts.

Quick update: Apparently my 450 GPU is incompatible with F&H. :cry I will say the new client is excellent (with the exception of not working on my computer). I do have the SMP up and folding, so at least some work is being done. Have gotten several responses at the Stanford forum. Not much new lately, I think the consensus is that it will be fixed in a future update to the client.

But if any of you are running older clients, you might want to update, the new one is nice, especially the PPD info and all you can access easily. This may not be a new feature, as the old client I had was pretty old...
