Using Windows 10 with Macrium Reflect Free v7.3.6284. Just tried to restore an image backup and got this error message... see attachment. What did I do wrong? It asked if I wanted to create rescue disk (?) ... wasn't sure how to answer so I said yes. Other than that I just told it which image backup to restore. I have no clue what Windows PE is?!?! Macrium retore error.PNG Please help! I am so frustrated after working on this laptop for days.

Are you trying to restore from within Windows, via the Macrium Recovery USB or have you added Macrium recovery to the Windows boot menu?
Did you image all 4/5 partitions or just the one containing Windows/C drive?

Thanks for answering. I was trying run the restore from Windows and didn't realize that I had to reboot to get it running. Never saw a message to that effect, but I walked away from the laptop for a while. Anyway, I gave up and turned the laptop off... when I started it up hours lately it when to a blue screen with two options... start Windows or start Macrium restore. Whew! Finally got it done... stressful times. I'm getting to old for this! :( Thanks for the input.

    Great news.
You can only restore an image via Macrium’s boot menu; it cannot be done from within Windows.

Yep... it can be setup in Windows but need to reboot to start the process. I found out the hard way. LOL!!

I had wondered in your other thread whether you would hit problems restoring but decided not to intervene. Well done! Hope you finally have access to your old emails.

Yes, everything worked out after a lot of stressful moments. I learned a lot though but I'm getting to old to work on computers. :( Just want them to run trouble-free. Thanks for your help Earthling!

Well that isn't going to happen!
I'm in my 70's and been dealing with computers since the 70's; they are better than they used to be. (Win 9x was prone to crashes). But trouble-free? Nope, a PC is not a toaster.
