Im trying to get myself some upgrades for my gaming desktop because i recently turned 40 so instead of having a midlife crisis i decided to have a midlife upgrade of my desktop computer.

    Here are my specs:

    Operating System
Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP2
    CPU
    Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz 55 °C
    Bloomfield 45nm Technology
    RAM
    6.00GB Triple-Channel DDR3 @ 534MHz (7-7-7-20)
    Motherboard
    ASUSTeK Computer INC. P6T DELUXE V2 (LGA1366) 34 °C
    Graphics
    E2350 (1920x1080@60Hz)
    896MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 (EVGA) 63 °C
    896MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 (EVGA) 59 °C
    ForceWare version: 311.06
    SLI Enabled
    Hard Drives
    932GB Seagate ST31000524AS ATA Device (SATA) 36 °C
    Optical Drives
    TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S223F ATA Device
    Audio
    USB Audio Device

    and heres my wishlist.

    1. I want to get more gaming ram i want about 24 to 36 gigs. Not sure of my price range.

    2. A new nvida graphics card i am willing to spend about $300 maybe a bit more. I paid about 600 for my gtx 295 when it came out but im hoping to pay a bit less.

    3. I want to replace my old air cooled case with a bigger and better one.

    4. Possibly a video capture card because im considering streaming on twitch TV.

Im am not going to upgrade all these parts at onece because im trying to get at least near top of the line. But im not going to get a titan graphics card its too expensive.

For your RAM, check your motherboard's QVL (qualified vendors list). Because there are too many RAM makers and models for ASUS to test them all you don't have to buy listed RAM, but you do need to buy RAM with the same specs as listed RAM.

Also, note on the specs page, it says that board supports 24Gb max so with triple channel, you need to look for 3 x 8Gb.

For graphics, see Toms Hardware Best Graphics Card for the Money, October 2013. Note, November's should be out soon.

BUT, before upgrading your hardware and especially before buying a new graphics card, you MUST insure your current power supply can handle it. Here's my canned text on sizing and selecting a PSU.
Use the eXtreme PSU Calculator Lite to determine your minimum and recommended power supply unit (PSU) requirements. Plan ahead and plug in all the hardware you think you might have in 2 or 3 years (extra drives, bigger or 2nd video card, more RAM, etc.). Be sure to read and heed the notes at the bottom of the calculator page. I recommend setting Capacitor Aging to 10% and setting both TDP and system load to 100%. These steps ensure the recommended supply has adequate head room for stress free (and perhaps quieter) operation, as well as future hardware demands. Setting Capacitor Aging to 30% will provide an even nicer amount of headroom. And remember, the computer’s components will only draw what they need, not what the PSU is capable of delivering. And the PSU will only draw from the wall what the computer demands, plus another 15 - 30% due to PSU inefficiencies. Buying way too big hurts only the budget. Make sure you buy a supply from a reputable maker and that it is 80 PLUS certified. I prefer Corsair and Antec PSUs.

As for cases, I like Antec cases. They are sturdy, well made and "true" (exactly 90° bends). Plus they offer lots of fan options. The Eleven Hundred is excellent for several reasons. It has lots of fan options - including a monster 200mm "blow hole" (top mounted) fan. It also has removable, washable air filters. Antecs tend to be conservative in appearance and very quiet which I like since I tend to pay attention to what's on my monitors and don't want to be distracted by noise, fancy façade, or flashing lights - lights that do nothing for performance, consume some power, add some heat, and do nothing for performance (worth repeating).
