Hello , I've just joined this website, although I started reading most of the other threads a while ago.

I'm looking to buy a new pc soon , round about christmas time.

I want to buy a pc from a store in my city.

I will be using it for games like warcraft and championship manager etc. Also I will be using it to download music and movies and play movies and music too.

    My budget is around £350-£400

Heres the link , to this computer store near me , it's fairly cheap I think.

    http://www.dacomputers.com/pcconfig.php?pcid=53

Could you please go on here and tell me what customised specifications you would get.

Currently I have a amd athlon xp 2.4ghz
    512mb RAM
    150gb
    Geforce 6200
    Gigabyte Mobo

I don't really think I should add the price up on this website buy choosing a graphics card , I might purchase one about 1-2 months after purchasing a pc from here.

EDIT : Also after you click the link , if you click 'computers' at the top , you can choose p4 etc , but I heard amd athlon will be better for my uses. Thx

i would get 1 gig of ram, minimum, if not 2 gig for gaming.
    looks like a nice system
    256 ram video card minimum

    Compare the only 2 mobos:

    http://www.asrock.com/product/AM2NF6G-VSTA.htm

    http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products...board&ProductID=2281&ProductName=GA-M51GM-S2G

The Gigabyte board has a better layout that won't hinder large cpu cooler install & cooling in the back of the case. The cable connectors make sense: top = ide to cd/dvd & floppy to floppy, bottom = sata to hdd. Also, the board supports DDR2 800/667/533/400, 2 IEEE1394 port (1 in back), 8 USB 2.0 (4 in back), 4 SATAII, etc. GA wins hands down.

The bold is what I chose.

and if I want to add the geforce 7300LE it is $48

out of the 6600 and 7300LE which one would you choose?

if u arent even planning on gaming then its not even necessary to buy a video card; the 6200 onboard will do fine for watching videos and other basic video things. Id go for the 6600 of the two if u do buy one tho

We're just guessing the 6600 & 7300 specs since the site doesn't specify the brands & models. LE = light edition. Not as good as normal/regular. If it were 7300, then 7300 it would be.

if the 6600 uses ddr2/ddr3, it'll destroys the 7300le (ddr).

This gives you an idea of where the cards are in terms of performances. 6600 should outperform 7300le. 450 vs. 350 something. Again, without knowing the exact brand & model, we guess.
