I desire to upgrade my processor. The motherboard supports up to P4 2.6. I can get the Celeron for $76 or the P4 for $156. This machine, although an interium unit until I build "the dream machine", is my main computer. Is the P4 worth $80 more ?

Yes. If you save 80 dollars buying a Celeron, you need to spend 80 dollars on memory to make up for its shortcomings. Never bother with the Celeron.

As with all computer upgrades, it depends on what you need it for. If you only use your computer for web browsing, word processing, and other simple tasks, then a Celeron will work just fine. If you plan on doing any gaming at all, or anything that requires a lot of processor utilization, then the P4 is definitely the way to go.

I agree with Wyatt. If its for basic computer tasking than it should be fine, but I think it is well worth it to upgrade to a P4. MA says it right with never bother with the Celeron. You will see a difference with performance and handling with a P4.

Its well worth the 80 dollars.
