recently my laptop takes an incredible amount of time to boot up and all sounds, no matter the source, are jittery. Also it is performing very poorly most of the time, meaning it is very slow. I believe i have completed all the steps in the read and run first thread, however I have had no success in fixing the problem or even identifying it. thanks in advance for any help.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Your logs show no malware. You problems may not be related to malware. Perhaps it is physical problem with your hardware.

I do however question what the below are used for and why the run at startup. Do you know what program requires these Conexant Universal Device Install/Uninstall Application and InstallShield Automatic Updater stuff.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UIUCU] C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\UIUCU.EXE -CLEAN_UP -S
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSPM Startup] C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\UPDATE~1\ISUSPM.exe -startup
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSScheduler] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe" -start

    Great! As I expected...not malware

Well I already indicated the names of what they are related to. You have to figure what on your PC requires them. The last two could be related to some protected game stuff from Macrovision. Check out the below links. Other than that, ask in the Software Forum (but note that they are not considered malware at this point).

My approach would be to stop them from loading using MSconfig and then reboot and figure out if anything does not work that you need. If it has no affect on anything, I would look into uninstalling whatever they are or at least permanently removing them from startup using HijackThis to remove the startup keys from from the registry.
