help me please!

When I try to open a file, (especially one from my desktop), my computer freezes. Do you have any suggestions on what the problem may be???

 

Need more info. What is your computer spec? What kind of files are you attempting to open? What software is already running at the time? Do you get any error messages? What do you have to do to unfreeze it?

If you can capture what processes are running at the time through Task Manager this would be helpful.

 

I don't know what spec means. I'm not really too intelligent about computers. I ripped a music disk (the primitive quartet) and saved it to my desktop. when I open it, my computer freezes. I cannot even open the task manager. I have to manually shut off my computer. Anyway, that's the only problem I have as I know of.

 

By the way, I have windows vista

 

What is the file type/extension on the music file you are trying to play (.wav, .mp3 etc), and how big is it? What software application are you trying to play it with? What other software are you running at the same time as doing this?
