Ok I Know I Shlud Know This By Now But I Need Help Reformatting My Hard Dive .im Running Xp..........i Just Want To Remove Everthing I Dont Need Help Putting Xp Back On It I Just Want It Clean...plzzzzzzzzzzz Help Me

 

Go into My Computer, right click on the hardrive and then click Format. YOu can also do it by going to into the command prompt and typing format C:

 

You also want to reinstall OS? If so.
Just insert Windows CD, boot to CD, run setup, setup will recognize existing windows install on HDD, chose to install same partition, you will get option to reformat, do so, use NTFS file system.
That's It.

If you Know what brand HDD ya have, you can donwload free utility, that can format (& setup multiple partitions if you desire) from manufacture Web.

Or if you dont have full version OS, and you have restore disk simply restore.

Either way result's the same.

ok hears my problem guess i should have stated this early..ive got 2 pc....thier both diffrent ......they both have problem ...cp 1 is mine its getting the hd reformatted...pc 2 is my wifes ...its not getting reformatted.....now ive slaved hd1(mine) to hd2 (wifes)...i want to keep hd 2 and reformat hd 1...ive tryed the right click and format thing thats a no go....tryed the c: b4 also a no go.........i guess what im asking is ...is thier a free proggy that i can download to totaly wipe out hd 1 as in fdisk...or somthing similar...and if so..where do i get it from........ive also tryed norton ...but that was no help... i have original cds for hd 1..but it also install xp or i would use it...thier the cds for my pc ...but they do everything ....i cant just delete everything and stop the install....plzz help

 

I'm still not sure what your trying to accomplish, besides trying to format.
Are you intending leaving both HDD's in your wifes PC?

What brand of HDD are these?
I know Maxtor & Western digital, have free utitilies to diaignos & format thier HDD's, I'm sure the other major manufactures do to.

Both of these HDD's have windows already installed?
One of these HDD's was in another completely different PC?
They both have a problem? what exact problem do they Have?
When you installed the hdd's together master/slave did you set the jumpers correctly?
Is your hdd recognized by windows and or in bios?
Check IDE cables

Please explain a little more detail.

 

There is a program for doing this very thing. It's called "ERASE HDD TOOL" .. I have a copy of it that I could send to you via email, but don't know your address. You might search for Erase Hdd Tool, or SP205 32.exe. My email in QRZ.com is good. Just let me know. It will erase everything on your hard drive really fast. It's a very small program. You can download it to a floppy disk and run it from there.
