    1. Under Dial Up and Virtual Private = Nothing written in the box. The area below is grayed out and 'never dial a connection' is selected

    2. Clicking LAN= no boxes are checked at all.

I will uniinstall and reinstall Mozilla

Just wondering, since I installed Windows Xp Service Pack and that caused me to have no website capabilities on IE, would it make sense to remove Windows XP Service PAck??

I'm not sure it will help but you could try.

It should not have cause these problems to begin with. You still had issues at the time when we did the upgrade so perhaps that is part of the problem. You could not connect places even before the upgrade and I believe Firefox did not work at all. You have deeper underlying configuration problems or a corrupted Windows installation (even before the upgrade - and that was what I was hoping to fix).

OK, I'm really on the verge of going crazy.
I'm sure you're getting sick of me and perhaps you can suggest who else I should talk to or if I should just take it to a computer repair place.
I'm very grateful for your help in removing about:blank, but I don't know what is happening to my computer.
I cannot figure out why I have no IE or Mozilla access to websites. (I talked to Gateway tech support and my connections were fine, the ping tests etc were all fine...). I reinstalled Mozilla, with no success.
I also just started problems with Norton Anti-Virus. My Auto-protect is "Off" and it will not allow me to enable it "On". I click enable and it does nothing.
Email scanning says "Error" in big red letters and clicking on it does nothing to fix it or anything else i've tried.
I have no Windows media player as well. This is all new.
My computer was working so great until this about:blank thing came along.
I think I maybe a lost cause unless you've got any ideas left...

You may need your Windows XP CD when doing the below. It will prompt you if necessary to put it in the drive (so it would not hurt to start with it in the drive).

We are now going to run a System File Check (sfc) to look for missing/damage system files.
Click Start, Run, and enter cmd and click OK. This will open up a command prompt. At the command prompt type the below command followed by the enter key.

    sfc /scannow

    Let me know what happens!
