ok, I'll cut right to the chase...
every time I open firefox or have it open for any amount of time, an internet explorer page pops up and starts surfing the internet on it's own. I've done virus scans, ad-ware removal, sypware removal, cleaned the registry and even tried deleting IE all together (which never works) :major
I run on Windows XP and I use the following security programs:
AVG Free Edition (within the last 3 days, 7 trojan viruses were found)
    Adaware Personal SE
    Spybot Search and Destroy
    RegScrubXP

Is there another program that I should run to fix this? I'm lost...

You could delete Internet Explorer in safemode. The easiest way to get in without rebooting is Start, Run, type in msconfig, OK, go to the BOOT.INI tab and put a checkmark under Boot Options next to /SAFEBOOT, select Apply, OK, then restart. Once in safemode go to Start, My Computer, Local Disk (C), (I am assuming that Windows is installed on C), Program Files, and delete the Internet Explorer Folder. I have done away with Outlook Express, Movie Maker, and Messenger this way without any ill effects. The folders will return on reboot, but will be empty. After that a cleanup of the registry. To get out of safemode Start, Run, msconfig, and remove the checkmark next to /SAFEBOOT under the BOOT.INI tab, Apply, OK, Reboot. I would try an uninstall of Firefox first, and remove any folders associated with it after the uninstall. Start, Search, All files and folders, type in firefox under All or part of the file name:,under More advanced options be sure to have Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders checked. Under Look in: make sure the drive Firefox is installed on is included, probably C, and under Type of file: make sure (All files and folders) is the option chosen. Delete any firefox files that show up and leave in recycle bin for a while to make sure you didn't delete anything you should not have. Sorry I am a bit wordy, but for a time I tried to put my pagefile on an external hard drive attached to a USB 2.0 port because none of the instructions I understood said it had to be a system drive. After installing a slave drive inside the tower on the same IDE line as the C: drive I realized the error of my ways. AVG is an excellent free AV, and so is Avast. It sounds like you need a decent firewall if you found trojans or viruses. For a free one I recently started using this one ( it will remind you to turn off Windows Firewall before installing) http://www.majorgeeks.com/Comodo_Personal_Firewall_d5033.html
I traded in Firefox tor this internet browser (although I still have it on a flash drive, portableapps.com)

hope this helps in some way...

PS: Sounds like your machine is a bot, get a good firewall and try out suggestions listed here
