OMG! I don't know what to do. This is a brand new computer - I've had it for about 2 weeks and I've been fighting constant pop-ups and slow processing and freeze ups for about 1.5 weeks. I think I've done all that was requested before posting this and I'm still having constant problems. I hope that someone can help me! My machine is running XP Media Center on the C: drive and was going to create a dual boot to be able to use Win2K on my E: drive. Will post a 2nd time to include the other requested logs..... Attached so far are HiJackThis, ShowNew and GetRunKey.

    thanks!

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

Please read Step 3 of the READ ME again. You are in clear violation of this guideline and this alone can make your PC exceptionally slow. You have McAfee, PC Tools Antivirus, and Symantec installed. Uninstall all but one. Then tell me how things are working.

You do ave malware to fix, but first we need to get you out of this OVERPROTECTED mode.

You also have too many active antispyware applications running. You have AOL, McAfee, Spyware Doctor, SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition, and CounterSpy. Are any of these paid programs or are they free trials? Is McAfee something that came with your PC (like a 90 day trial)?

Now run this Virtumonde aka Trojan Vundo Removal and attach the requested log.

Now attach new logs from ShowNew and HJT.

Okay, I did as you asked... I think. I removed AOL and Norton. These both (along with McAfee) came with the computer. I also removed PC Tools AntiVirus, Spyware Doctor and CounterSpy. That leaves McAfee and SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition - hope anyway. I ran Vundo Removal and posted this log along with new HJT and new ShowNew. Hope I'm clean now! And, yes the computer is running faster-THANK YOU!

I had paid for PC Tools AntiVirus and Spyware Doctor.....

Let me know what else I need to do.

Goto Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the below software:
    J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2
    Mozilla Firefox (1.5)
    Viewpoint Media Player

Now install the current version of Sun Java from: Sun Java Runtime Environment

Then install the current version of FireFox from: Mozilla Firefox

Since the below have been uninstalled, you should delete these folders:
    C:\Program Files\AdwareAlert
    C:\Program Files\PC Tools AntiVirus
    C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor

Make sure viewing of hidden files is enabled (per the tutorial).
Run HijackThis and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {4BFA4F85-1F2E-4293-8F9B-482AF9E2F423} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\geeeb.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: SSL encrypt - {746455FE-D059-47e7-AF0E-140E03F5A447} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsh96.dll
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {849B9523-785F-4014-9CAF-079FB4A74C61} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\irrhiodf.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: Banner Rotator - {E954DB82-1533-4714-92F2-59C98D5C18CC} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\brrotate.dll
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [adstart] "iexplore.exe" "http://iesettingsupdate"
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [asrupdate.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\asrupdate.exe

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.
Boot into safe mode and use Windows Explorer to delete:
    C:\WINDOWS\justin_new.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\brrot-uninst.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ebo_1.0.3.9.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\justin.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\brrotate.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\nsh96.dll
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\{3817E625-0BFA-1033-0214-051018200001} <--- the whole folder

If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. If it is, uncheck it and try again. Other wise open Task Manager and kill the process if running then delete the file.

Now if running Win XP goto c:\windows\Prefetch and delete all files in this folder.
Now run Ccleaner (installed while running the READ ME FIRST).

Now we need to Reset Web Settings:
    1. If you have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, goto step 2. If not, skip to step 3.
    2. Now right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK. Then skip step 3.
    3. If you do not have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, click Start, Control Panel (for some systems it may be Start, Settings, Control Panel), Internet Options, Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK.
Note for IE 7 users: You need to select Internet Options then the Advanced tab and then Reset Internet Explorer Settings!

    Now reboot in normal mode
Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixWLK.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
Also delete all files in the below folders except ones from the current date (Windows will not let you delete the files from the current day).
    C:\WINDOWS\Temp
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp

Now attach a the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. GetRunKey
    2. ShowNew
    3. HJT
Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 1 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

DollarRevenue, Virtumonde, ConHook trojan, and more. Were you got it, you should know. You are the one doing the surfing. ;)

Do you have Advanced Spyware Remover installed? I wondering why the below file did not get deleted?

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\asrupdate.exe

Also why did you copy the below files into this Temp folder. Delete all files in this folder as instructed:

Now your log is clean. If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. If we used Pocket Killbox during your cleanup, do the below
      • Run Pocket Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups
    2. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    3. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • go back to step 8 of the READ & RUN ME to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    4. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
