    Okay, here is my problem.

I have just bought a new hard drive, partitioned it, and had some stuff copied to it.

I then deleted the partitions, and set some new ones up (was changing the size of the partitions). I havent put anything on the disk yet.

Then, i realise i want some of the stuff (new emails i just received using mozilla) that is on my new disk, prior to me changing the partitions.

Is there any way of checking what is on the new disk? I assume windows hasnt actually written over the stuff that i just put on there

    All help much appreciated!

Let me get this straight: You have a drive that had some partitions on it, and there was data on these partitions. You deleted the partitions, and then set up some new partitions of different sizes, and that's where we are now, correct? Most of the data should be recoverable as long as no new data has been written to the drive. But because the new partition 'breaks' are in different places, some of the data has likely been 'cut up' and now resides on two or more different new partitions. You will need some type of recovery software that has the ability to scan formatted/new partitions and to rebuild the data it finds. For free software, you can try PC Inspector. It's a tad slow, and not the most user friendly program in the world, but it's free and it works well in most cases. If you don't mind spending some money, you can try Easy Recovery Pro (faster and easier to use) or GetDataBack (I've never used it but it's highly recommended). You can also look thru the Major Geeks Data Recovery section and see if something there suits your needs. Here's some links:
PC Inspector http://www.pcinspector.de/Sites/file_recovery/download.htm?language=1 (a user manual is available here also)
    Easy Recovery Pro http://www.ontrackdatarecovery.com/file-recovery-software/
GetDataBack for NTFS http://www.majorgeeks.com/GetDataBack_for_NTFS_d2773.html (not cheap but is VERY highly recommended)
Data Recovery downloads here at Major Geeks http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads38.html
    Good luck! :major
