Help Needed - A+ Certification in USA/Florida

Sorry to ask, thought there might be a few people who have the A+ this message board that could point me in the right direction.

Does anyone know how I go about becoming A+ Certified in the US, in particular Florida? I’ve tried contacting local colleges, technical schools without any luck. I’ve searched online for places to sit the tests but all I keep finding are various schools offering to sell the “training”. On the CompTIA website it lists vouchers to purchase which can be used to take the classes but no where will take the vouchers or offer the classes.

I’ve already been mislead in a way into purchasing a "certification" thinking it was the real thing. It was an online course which turned out to be good to practice on and allowed me to review the material in the actual test.

I’ve 5.5 years experience as a IT Technician from back home; I originally trained with a large company. I’ve done a number of classes from 1997 till about 2004 in both using and supporting ICT (Information Communication Technology). I'm getting 90% to 100% on the tests and just want to take it.

I know one of the most common ways to get certified is through a work place, this would leave most of the details through the work, not leaving much to help. I myself am trying to get certified and not having much luck finding decent reliable place to do testing. I do wish you good luck.

 

Thanks for the response, I'd happily go through work only I ended up in an office job not an IT job. My qualifications don't appear to mean very much here in the US and my experience is just my word, no one wants to phone Ireland for a reference. I wanted to get the A+ here so I would have something people here knew and understood.

I did manage to find something, after having a second look on the CompTIA website. I found places where I could use the vouchers they sell. All I gotta do now is buy the voucher and pick a place. You can find a test center by clicking here!

I did my A+ and Net+ through Microtrain Computer Schools.

However...Thomson Prometric is the company that makes and manages the testing, so you have to find a Prometric certified testing center.

FYI, just in case you wasn't aware...The A+ is actually two seperate test, the Hardware, and the OS. The fee is $158.00 for each test.
