help needed in installing 64bit from 32bit please

hi group
i have an acer aspire 6920g.
it's running a 32 bit os and i want to change to a 64 bit os.
i have ran a cpu-z test which shows my merom processor has 64bit capeability. i have tried to install with the new disc but the error message that comes up says my current os is 32 bit and will not support it.
can anyone solve this problem for me please

Here is a suggestion and it may or may not be the easy way but nonetheless you can try it. Try formatting your hard drive (which will wipe out your current OS, so if you have files that you need to save do that before the format). I personally like to use "Dariks Boot and Nuke" (which can be found here at MG's) which wipes out everything on your hard drive so you can start from scatch. If you have any questions just post and we at at MG's will get you through it.

Do you receive any error messages?

Have you set the BIOS to boot from the CD drive?

yes i have set it to run from the cd drive.
this is puzzling me, i know that my processor can run a 64bit os as i have tested it with cpu-z, but i just cannot get it to !
the os disc will let me try to boot up from vista where i get a message that because i am running a 32bit os it will not let me ?
