Help needed on Outlook Express

hi all,

I set up my work email at home on Outlook Express and I can receive emails easily with no hassles but i have a problem at sending email. I get the following error

First of all i disabled norton antivirus and internet security to see if there was any interference and I still had the same error. The other idea i had in mind is that either my isp i use at home is blocking port 25 or the mail server is blocking it?is there a way to quick check which port could be used for smtp port?but its strange because i use the same port 25 at work and it works fine so i think it could be my isp at home which is not letting it.

Any ideas or help would be great and thanks for everyone looking at it.

Try disabling any antivirus email scanning, and see if that helps.

Since it's work email, maybe they use SSL for sending email. Try port 587 (I think) and change the settings to "SSL". Also see if the setting for "outgoing server needs authentication" works. Along those lines, try if SPA works (Secure Password Authentication). These options should all be under your "mail"/"accounts" tab on OE. Good Luck. :cool

 

Your isp is blocking third party mail servers for spam prevention reasons, you should use your isps smtp server for outgoing mail and blam it will work.

 

yea i already tried that and no luck but thanks anyways on the tip.

 

yea knew they were blocking it but didnt come into my mind to use my isps smtp server. i used it and it works fine. thanks for the help
