my new computer has windows 7 on it---- I have math programs that I used on my XP OS and they worked fine but with the windows 7 it just laughs at it---The math programs are Trig and Calculus and colege algebra. I try to keep my mind busy with these programs and I have twins who will need to take the courses also. Any help that can be given to me would be appreciated. And can anyone please tell me how with windows 7 I can change the control panel to classic mode--- I can see what I need to use in that mode but not in the regular way. I am still learning this computer and program. someone plz help me out.

The math programs should install and run OK in XP compatibility mode. Right click the program file or shortcut, click Properties and click the Compatibility tab.

I'm referring to your math programs. If they are already installed then however you start them - from a desktop shortcut or the Start menu for instance - right click instead of double clicking. In the menu that appears is Properties, so click that, and in the next box click the Compatibility tab. Then you can select to run it in XP compatibility mode.

If the programs won't install at all then it's the install program you need to right click etc.

    Hello,
If you wish to run those programs on a Windows 7 computer, you will have to install something like VirtualBox, An x86 virtualization software package on your computer and then install XP. If you have an OEM version of XP that came with the computer try and find a Windows 98 disc because then you will not have to worry about activation issues. There is a learning curve to VirtualBox though. As sach2 suggested. WolframAlpha is pretty awesome.
