Help Needed

Help guys, I can not get on line or anything as the screen freezes on start up.
Tried many times but as soon as the screen pic comes on and loading tool bar icons it stops and wierd bleeping noise from speakers?
Am using local library computor at mo,so will check back later on if any help info?
The only thing i downloaded last night was 2 security update files from Windows update,now this popped up whilst i was veiwing the H.A.M.B forum for HotRods. I have got a emergency start up disc but have not used it yet as i cant get as far as start up screen?
Any help would be appreciated for a fellow Major Geek member.

Sorted, just needed to press windows key on keyboard then get into startup and removed all the Hewlett packard crap that was residing in there,not only that but there was some numbered files that seemed strange so got shot of them and the comp.s flying!!
