HELP!!!! Networking Vista Basic to 2000

Is it even possible i realize that windows 2000 uses a different discovery program. and Vista uses LLTD. but there doesnt seem to be any place to download LLTD for windows 2000. every once and a while Vista will see the windows 2000 computer but its VERY rare. Can someone just please give me the steps i need to take to network Windows Vista Home Basic with Windows 2000 SP4. I have Hardwire And wireless on The vista laptop but the 2000 PC only has a hardwire. Im seriously at my wits end. about to throw them both away im so frustrated.
