Go to the manufacturers website, and search for the drivers for your exact laptop (if you haven't already). Download the audio driver, and install it according to their instructions. If that fails to fix the problem, then . . .

Check under device manager, and then "Sound, video, and game controllers" and see if there are any yellow exclamation marks or red X's listed. What does it say there - it should list your ICH4 - AC'97 Audio Controller among the items.
Let us know what you find, and we can go from there.

Also, check under the services (go to "Run" and type services.msc and hit return). Make sure the service "Windows Audio" is listed, started, and set to automatic. If the service is not listed at all, let me know - that's an easy fix.

It might also be a good idea to check in the BIOS settings, and make sure the audio is enabled there. It should be, but you never know . . .

Post back with your findings, and we can get it squared away.

Hmmmm. If you have tried different drivers, made sure the Windows Audio service is there and running, and checked in the BIOS to make sure the on-board audio is enabled . . . I am unsure how to proceed. But I still suspect it's a driver related issue of some sort . . .

Have you tried uninstalling the Audio via the Device manager and rebooting?

Or tried installing the audio via the control panel (Add Hardware)?

It would help if you posted the exact model number of your laptop . . . I know it's an Amilo L Series.

I'll ponder this for a bit, but right now I'm stumped.

    Hi again Spad...
Thanks for responding very quick...Actually i wondering about cd driver i had probably it doesnt support in msc.coz thats the ac'97 controller and when i trying to install its comes yellow exclamation mark in Audio via the Device manager and it goes error code 10.... i think my cd doesnt support anymore.

I already check the BIOS setting and and Windows Audio is set to automatic. I suspect i need a ICH4 - AC'97 Audio Controller but i know where to get. if you so kind to post me the the exact driver that suit to my laptop, and the link where to install, it will be very big help.....

    Cheers!
