Help no sound from Speakers

Hi

Moved to hardware.

What type of speakers are these, built in ones like in a laptop/desktop or external speakers, if in a laptop then whats the Model and Make of laptop/desktop, if external whats the model and make?

If external speakers are they plugged into the correct port on the PC, generally the green one, but try the others. If external speakers are they mains power or battery? if battery have you changes the batteries?

Where you speakers working and now just not working all of a suddern, please describe the steps leading up to lack of sound, like have you just had malware, have you just re-installed Windows XP etc?


Have you checked in Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices make sure MUTE is not ticked, also check that the volume is not at minimum.

In Services, found buy clicking Start > Run and typing services.msc and hit enter, then look in the list for Windows Audio and is the service started? if not Start it and set its Startup Type to Audtomatic


Also do answer the question above on Device Manager and also I'll add do tell us if you have any yellow ! marks next to any device, if so whats its name.
