    Greetings!

Can someone please help me get rid of this Trojan?

I used Disk Cleaner (comes with Windows 98) to delete Temp. Internet Files. However, the Trojan is still there. AVG free gives the following information:

    object: c:\\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\XFS8WJDM\mmviewer_101[1].cab:\mmview_101.Jll
result: Trojan horse Downloader.Agent.3.BO Infected, Embedded Object

I also use Ad-Aware SE, Spy Bot, and a-squared.

    Thank you.

    Thank you, Tigeray:

Im working on it, but, when they say "no installation required, Just unzip to a folder" what should I do? I saved to my Downloads folder, but when I click on it, the document is unreadable. Sorry, I'm such a novice.

    Thank you.

What that means, is that the file you downloaded is already set up. All of the files have been compressed into one, for easier installation. You will need an unzipping program such as WinZip to unzip the file. Just make sure that when you unzip these files, you set up a safe folder for them. Especially if you have to download Hijack This 1.99. In other words that programs own folder, not another folder or the desktop.

Hi Tigerray! Thank you for your help.

I can't get WinZip now($29.00) may be Monday. Would you recommend "Extract Now" ?

    Thank you.

I believe Winzip has a shareware evaluation version that will work, it's free, but has a lot of new features that you can't use unless you pay for it and register it. It should still work.
At least it will work long enough to do what you need it to do.

I'm not sure what "Extract Now" is, unless it shows up when you right click a zip file.
If it's an extraction program, I couldn't honestly say anything about it.
I was lucky and downloaded WinZip, before they put the time limiting software in it and I have had it for almost a year now free.

What you might want to do is post a new thread in the "Software" category, asking for a good free unzipping program. I'm sure someone here knows of one or has one.:)

You can use this link to download WinZip. It will give you a trial version that should last long enough for you to do what you need to do with this spyware stuff. And also til you can get a different unzipping program.

    Dear Tigerray: :)

Again, Thank you so much for all your help! I just managed to finish doing all the steps (I think). I feel like I have learned a lot of new things and my computer acts like it's feeling brand new! I did the diskkeeper lite in safe mode and it said I had zero fragments. It's great!

I have a feeling, when I did the CCleaner, that it got rid of a lot of excess bagage my computer didn't need. And, when I ran the SpyBot program the Trojan Horse Inbedded Object did not get picked up. Hopefully it is gone for good.

Thank you again, I'm very happy.

    Very best regards,

    Jeanie :)

Are you sure everything is fixed up for you?

If not you might want to post a Hijack this log so that Chaslang, or one of our other experts can go through it and make sure your all set.

You might also want to read this sticky thread to help prevent any future problems.

These aren't rules written in stone, but there is a lot of good stuff in there that will help keep you safe.;)
