Help Please... Drivers

Hi, I'm fairly new to this site but i got a lot of great protection from it so I thought maybe i'd join. I have two problems that are really frustrating me. One is my computer will not burn CD's. I have a CD-RW drive but every time i try and burn it cancels on me. I used different brands and the same has happened each time. Also, I would like to burn DVD's but my drive is just a DVD drive. It isn't DVD-R or DVD-RW. Is there anyway that i can update that drive and change it to DVD-R? Any help on these topics would be great.

Yes. Remove it from your PC and install a new DVDRW drive. LOL Seriously though, it is impossible to turn a non burning drive into a burning drive via an 'update'. You must replace the entire unit. DVD burners are only about $50 at any PC store, and only $25 or so on Newegg.
As to your burning problem.... we really need more information. What are you trying to burn? What burning programs are you using? What exactly are the errors you get? What version of Windows are you using? Are you doing anything else at the time the burning is happening? Has the drive ever worked normally?
