HELP PLEASE! Hp pavilion laptop dv9000

I recently bought a used hp pavilion laptop dv9000, the problem is i turn it on and it ask for password --- but i dont know it I tried the f11 button but it dont help --- ANY IDEAS??? Or was i basically ripped off! :cry

 

XP Professional is installed I believe. Tap the F8 key when starting, Choose Safe Mode. Should be an Administrator account, choose that (probably not password protected). You can then create a new account and then delete the one you don't have the password for, and save the unknown password accounts files to the desktop. The Administrator account for XP Pro can be used like other computer administrator accounts with XP Pro, not so with XP Home. If you use tweakui from Microsoft you can choose to show the Administrator account at logon. Good practice to change the Administrator accounts name as well, or at least password protect it. You can change its name using Administrative Tools/Local Security Policy/Security Options. I change the Guest Account name as well, and don't use the Guest Account. Best of luck...

On 2000 Pro, I kept getting that. Just left it blank and hit OK and the thing continued to load and boot.
If purchased from someone you know, take it to them to unlock.

 

i tried the safe mode --- but no change --- can i get to Administrative Tools/Local Security Policy/Security Options in any of the other options? I dont think its a administrator account, it just says steave and then gives hint, i tried to plug in my flash drive to reset password like it said (but it dont work) Thank you for your help

 

Iwished i did know them -- it wouldve made things so much easier! I bought it at a flee market. I will try that to --- Thank you
