Avast says I have Nutcracker Family Virus. I downloaded the Norton Removal Tool and removed all of Norton's Symantec stuff period. The location of the "Nutcracker Family Virus was supposedly in C: Documents and Settings\All Users\Symantec\Shared\QBackup.qbi. I KNOW something is on my computer still--can someone help? I'd appreciate it!!!!!;)

Here is my HiJack This file (Was I supposed to post it here?):

The remainder of the requested logs are attached:

    1) For MGTools

I followed everything for the "Run and Read Me First" and Vista Cleaning Procedures. It seems that things are cool, but I want to be sure. Viruses hide themselves.

I apologize...I didn't see the warning about NOT posting HiJack This logs before I posted it yesterday---I'm a new member. I appreciate your patience!
Please let me know if I am still infected after posting these.

    Thanks so much!!!!

I might ask what this is:
    C:\cfol

And you may wish to Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it. This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

    Otherwise, you look good.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

1 If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop & renamed it like we requested.)

    * Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
    * "%userprofile%\Desktop\cf" /u
o Notes: The space between the cf" and the /u, it must be there.
o This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    * Delete the C:\cf folder from combofix.
2 *If we used SmitFraudFix, you can delete all files and folders related to it now including the c:\rapport.txt log.
3 *If we used VundoFix, you can delete the VundoFix.exe file and the C:\VundoFix Backups folder and C:\vundofix.txt log that was created.
    4. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    5. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    6. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
    * Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
    * Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

Hi, Tim--sorry for the delay--I haven't been able to get back to this computer in several days. The C:\cfol was what I re-named the combofix to---at first---until i re-read the instructions and it said to be sure to rename to cf.exe. Don't quite know why that remained. However, I have since added virus programs that you all have recommended and I performed multiple back-to-back scans. Attached, is tonight's MGTools scan. Please let me know what you think from here.;)

Also...I like the idea of having the various virus programs on my computer--for scanning purposes only. How do I ensure that all but one (AVG) for antivirus and one (Comodo) firewall stays inactive/disabled? I exit out of each one and try to disable each, but I want to be sure. I even have a-squared.

Thanks SO much for your help--I appreciate it!!!!!

You attached a HJT log.....however, it looks clean. You also have 3 anti-virus programs. That is not good.....you should remove all but one, and if you feel you need to do alternate scans, use an online scanner (like BitDefender). You should also only have one firewall program.....

How to Protect yourself from malware! ----> spells that out.

Glad all is working now...safe surfing. :)
