Help please. Laptop about to learn how to fly.

Hi all,
2 weeks ago something corrupted my 2004 NIS. On startup I continually got a message saying that Norton was disabled. I hadn't done anything to Norton. I couldn't go any further.
I restarted in safe mode and disabled NIS.
I contacted Symantec support who suggested uninstalling and reinstalling NIS. He got me to manually remove all files and registry entries then run a downloaded an uninstal tool.
This last step seemed to really stuff up my computer. I couldn't reinstall NIS and finally decided I didn't really want it anymore.
At that point computer was running very slowly.
Contacted Dell who suggested reinstalling windows straight up!
Tried XP repair
Gone through read and run me first.
Found 100s of spyware.
Things seem to have improved. Particular issures are:
1. My computer takes a long time to open. Same for drop down box.
2. Can't seem to update windows anymore. It just continues to loop. This problem means I can't use windows defender.

Other things I've noticed.
1. Services folder is slow to open.
2. There's a %System folder% in My Computer and on Desktop

WareOut Removal

Once complete please post a new shownew and new HJT log. You will need to redownload shownew as there is a newer version available than the one you have used.

If you are still having malware problems and would like help can you please post a new hjt log and shownew in case anything has changed.

Well your HJT log seems to be clean, what is isilox clipper? Seems to be something to do with a palmtop, I see another program to do with your palm so I assume it is this.

This does seem to be more likely a software problem, possibly you have traces of NIS remaining that are causing a problem, you might try posting this problem in the software forum, there are a lot more people who can post in there so you should get a fast response. Feel free to reference this thread if it helps.

 

iSilo is a document viewer for my palmtop.
I have uninstalled those programs and will post a new thread in software.
