Hi, I did every step and I would really appreciate it if some body would take a look at these scans and let me know what I should delete. PandaActive failed to do a complete scan every time i tried it. It would give me an error message every time about 1/2 way through. Anyway here is CounterSpy / BitDefender / GetRunKey. I will include ShowNew & HijackThis in another post.

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!
Note you have been adding items to your Trusted Zone. We don't recommend this unless you have verified that what ever it is that you are trying to do cannot be done without this entry. I have surfed for years and also access many secure sites (including financial related). I have never needed to add anything to the Trusted Zone. Consider having HijackThis fix all of those O15 lines.

Start by downloading a tool we will need - Pocket KillBox

Save it to its own folder somewhere that you will be able to locate it later.

Please run HijackThis and click on the Open the Misc Tools Section button on the open page. Then select Open process manager on the left-hand side. Look for the following process (or processes) and one at a time kill them by selecting it and then click Kill process. Then click yes.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\gpxpmbty.exe <-- if you don't find this name look for another randomly named process matching the O4 lines seen in your HJT log (see below)

After killing all the above processes, click Back.
Then please click Scan and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O2 - BHO: Visual Renderer - {16946E6F-C8B7-4D66-B97D-785B7D6BF083} - C:\WINDOWS\system\brwptr32.dll
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [gpxpmbty] C:\WINDOWS\system32\gpxpmbty.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [gpxpmbty] C:\WINDOWS\system32\gpxpmbty.exe

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Now run Pocket Killbox by doubleclicking on killbox.exe
Choose Tools > Delete Temp Files and click Delete Selected Temp Files.
Then after it deletes the files click the Exit (Save Settings) button.
NOTE: Pocket Killbox will only list the added files it is able to find on the system. So when you do the below, if some files do not show in the list after pasting them in, just continue.

    Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the All Files button.
    • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
    • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt.
If you receive a PendingFileRenameOperations prompt, just click OK to continue (But please let me know if you receive this message!).

If Killbox does not reboot just reboot your PC yourself.

Now attach the below new logs and tell me how the above steps went.

    1. GetRunKey
    2. ShowNew
    3. HJT

Make sure you tell me how things are working now!

Reminder Note: Once we have determined you are malware free you will need to disable System Restore, reboot, and re-enable system restore per step 1 of the READ & RUN ME. This only applies to if using WinXP or WinMe.

Well, I did all the recommended steps and now I can't use my computer normally. Maybe I deleted something I shouldn't have in "hijack this". Every time I try to reboot I get a message that windows can't start and to please chose from several options. Start in safe mode / start in safe mode with networking/ start in safe mode with run capabilities/ start from last configuration, etc. I am including the log from my most recent hijack this scan. I was able to obtain this from running in safe mode with networking. I was hoping there was something obviously missing in the scan results. Thanks for your help.

You appear to have deleted the below which I did not request however I would not expect removing these to cause a problem with booting in normal mode.

If necessary you can restore things fix with HijackThis from the Misc Tool, Backups folder to see if that cures the boot problem. However what exactly happens when trying to boot normally. How far does it get? What happens? Any error messages?

Attach a GetRunKey and ShowNew log from safe mode.
