Hi folks, any help would be appreciated here.

Problem is my wife's few years old Toshiba laptop running 64 bit Win7 Home. Boots fine through Win7 password entry, but soon after that it shuts down - as if it was a desktop unit and the plug was pulled. It just clicks off. It runs fine in safe mode, so I initially suspected malware - something loading late in the boot process that was causing a crash. Malwarebytes and Spybot were on the desktop, so I manually updated them and ran them. Spybot found some cookies it didn't like, MWB listed a few minor things and a trojan. I killed the cookies, quarantined and then deleted the MWB entries and figured I was done.

Wrong. Problem persists. I've take the steps in the read/run first and attached logs to this post. Most look pretty clear. So, not sure if I have a malware/SW issue, or something more HW related (it is an old laptop thats suffered long abuse). The MWB log is from a follow-on scan and does not show the few items I found on the original scan - sorry about that. Does MWB have an archive of previous reports I could dig into?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Your problems did not sound like malware and your logs agree since they are basically clean. I suggest that you use a tool like MSconfig to allow various startup process/services to run selectively to see if you can zero in on what process/service/driver is have a problem. You can attempt to work non-malware problems like this in the software forum.

Thanks chaslang, half way in to writing the OP I was leaning the same way. I'll spend some time with msconfig to try to trace down the gremlin.

    You're welcome.

Since you are not having malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
