Help please...serious problem!

    Hi, I have a major virus problem. When I try to run avg,regcure,ie7 or any file that accesses the internet I get "windows cannot open this program". It seems something has hijacked these programs and I cannot even re-install windows because I get the same message. I would appreciate any help. I am running windows vista 32bit. Thanks

    Hi chaslang, I cannot follow your instructions as I am unable to run any .exe programs including combofix,spybot.etc. I get the "open with" window with ie as the recommended program but ie does not open either. Also in run msconfig I get "Application not found".

    Have you tried using safe mode to run programs?

    Have you tried right clicking on EXE files and selecting open instead of using double click to run?

    If you still have a problem running EXEs, see if you can manage to do the below.



    Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.
