Ok, I was advised by some in my software thread to have a read of the malware removal guide... this is the link to my problem, http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=142015

I followed all the instructions on the malware guide and have 3 files to upload, the hijackthis 1, runkeys and newfiles. I did a couterspy scan and it found nothing so i couldnt get any results. The bitdefender scan would not work for some reason so i did the panda scan. It found nothing either so couldnt get a results log of that too.

I was told to to this as it would elimanate them as possible causes to my problem

    Thanks.

You problems do not appear to be related to malware, but I will give you a few things to do below which will help a little with startup time.

    • First uninstall the CounterSpy trial program.
    • Next I see SpyCatcher installed. Is this a free trial or paid program? If free, uninstall it now.
    • Next I see you just install SuperAntiSpyware too. If you are not going to but it, uninstall it too.
    • Note that I see you are using SpywareGuard 2.2 for protection. It is too old and does not provide adequate protection anymore. You really need better protection but don't worry about this right now while trying to fix you other problems. But later, you should see this: How to Protect yourself from malware!
    • Don't run CCleaner at startup. It is slowing down your boot up. Run it yourself when you want.
    • Now have HijackThis fix the below items which are all unnecessary startups.
Run HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\jusched.exe"
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SpyCatcher Reminder] C:\Program Files\SpyCatcher\SpyCatcher.exe reminder
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTTask.exe" -atboottime
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [AdobeUpdater] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater5\AdobeUpdater.exe
    O4 - Global Startup: Google Updater.lnk = C:\Program Files\Google\Google Updater\GoogleUpdater.exe

    After clicking Fix, exit HJT.

Run this Disable/Remove Windows Messenger to remove Windows Messenger. Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

The above will more than like not resolve your shutdown issues (unless one of the above is the cause ) but doing all of the above should help improve boot up time.

Thank you for your reply, I was going to remove all them spyware programs, just wanted to wait until someone had replied first just incase they needed another scan. AnywayI did what you had told me and am still having problems. The computer still does not shutdown and hangs at "saving your settings" and it takes around 10-15mins to boot up...getting stuck on the blue welcome screen. *sighs* lol, thank you for your help anyway :)
