    Hi all.
I am currently attempting to fix my sister's laptop which is full of viruses and adware. I had thought at first I could just fix it with Avast and Superantispyware, but did not seem to work, so I followed each of your steps (up to step 4) and have aquired the neccessary logs. I am not sure what is wrong with the laptop, but it is very slow, and the adware I thought I deleted via superantispyware seem to pop back up. Hopefully someone can help. Thanks

P.S. not sure if this is relevant, but the MGlogs zip file was already present before I ran the getlogs.bat. Maybe it is meant to be there before I ran the program, but thought I'd mention it anyway.
    Thanks again

Sorry, I forgot to attach the files, but here they are.
In terms of combofix, i couldnt seem to attach the file, as it says it is an invalid file. I thought I saved the file onto my documents but when I tried opening it (to see why it was indicated as invalid for attachement) it popped up with the script. Its possible I may have saved the wrong file, but where would I be able to find the default directory for combofix logs?
Also when I turned the laptop back on, the desktop wallpaper was changed, although its just a normal wallpaper possibly already on the computer by default (not sure if this is relevant but thought I'd mention it anyway as it was changed without any control of my own).

Sorry, I think I've found the combofix log. I apologise for the messabout, I must be computer illiterate.

It looks like the scans took care of the malware. Please tell me what issues you still have.

    Oh thanks!
I really appreciate all the help guidelines on this website which were really helpful as well as you TimW for taking the time and effort to check the logs and everything - thanks. Its not even my laptop I was fixing, but I've still got a great feeling of relief on fixing it, and thanks again :)

You are most welcome......If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommed you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They are useful as backup scanners. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

      • Delete the C:\combofix folder from combofix (if it exists)

    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    7. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
